Over the past years, Innocracy has established itself as one of the biggest conferences on democratic innovation and transformation in Europe. Between 2017 and 2021, Innocracy has explored innovations in democracies by bringing together leading academics, activists, and high-ranking politicians. Together with various partners, we sought to develop tangible visions for a resilient democracy. Innocracy is known for reflecting on the status quo and exploring new approaches along with a strong community character, innovative formats and future-oriented debates.
In 2022, we decided to take a break from the yearly summit and instead use the time to reevaluate, rethink and refine Innocracy. With multiple crises unfolding across the globe and posing new challenges to democracies and their citizens, it is apparent that democratic innovation has never been more important. For a successful and just socio-ecological transformation of our societies towards a more sustainable world, democracies need to be increasingly adaptive, inclusive and resilient. How can democracy contribute to a just transformation anchored in its values? We aim to improve the conference’s scope and highlight the importance of democratic decision-making at the heart of a just transition while staying true to Innocracy’s main mission: to improve liberal democracy from the inside out.
The next conference will take place in Berlin and online in the fall of 2023. Stay tuned for more info coming soon and revisit the highlights from the past four years below.
